Here is one of the coolest pieces of equipment: the steady cam. For those of you who don't know, it's for getting smooth shots without using a dolly. And this operator was a really cool guy. In fact, I recognized him, cause we worked on a project a few months ago. Steady cam operators are envied. All camera guys look up to them, because it's like the highest and coolest camera position. It's such a fascinating and expensive piece of equipment. Steady cam operators usually own their own equipment (the vest and the weight system), as it makes them easier to hire. It's a lot better to hire an operator who owns his own equipment, cause then you don't need to do a separate rental.
